Doctor Sleep’s 3-Hour-Long Director’s Cut Is Available To Stream On HBO Max

A three-hour-long director’s cut of Doctor Sleep is now available to stream on HBO Max which means that we can see the movie the director wanted to release.

I’m going to be honest, I didn’t much care for Doctor Sleep, but I know a lot of people who really enjoyed the film.

I thought the film was too long and not really scary.

I’ve read the original Stephen King book and found that to be much more effective.

That said, we’re now getting a three-hour-long director’s cut of the movie which is going to be available to stream from HBO Max.

This news was revealed by the film’s director, Mike Flanagan via an interview with Collider.

Here’s what Flanagan told Collider’s Adam Chitwood about this longer cut of the movie:

There is new material throughout the whole film. Some of it is brand new stuff that was never included in the theatrical cut, and there’s also a handful of extended (or altered) scenes as well.

This does sound pretty interesting to me.

After watching the movie, I did think it would have been better as a series.

Perhaps a slightly longer movie would make it better and more cohesive.
