It’s been revealed that Dan Stevens is now one of the new favourites to be named as the next actor to play James Bond after Daniel Craig left the role following No Time To Die. This news comes to us via bookmakers, VegasInsider.com. According to their research, Stevens is currently the fifth most likely to be picked to take on the role next.

They analysed data from more than 20 bookmakers and created an average regarding who will be the next 007. This is where they discovered that Stevens is currently ranked as the fifth most likely pick to take over as the iconic superspy. As it stands, Stevens’ odds of taking on the role are 6/1, with an implied probability of 14.29%. That’s actually pretty high, and I think he’d be an excellent choice to take on the role.

Here’s what a VegasInsider spokesperson had to say of Stevens’ chances to be named as the next actor to play James Bond:

Stevens had quite a few projects in 2022 that have raised his profile – Gaslit, Welcome to Chippendales, Cabinet of Curiosities – but it has happened before that someone rose quickly to the top of the candidates’ list and disappeared as fast, so the next few weeks will tell whether he is sticking around.

What about Henry Cavill and the rest?

At the moment, Henry Cavill is still the bookies’ favourite to be the next actor to take on the iconic role. He came very close to getting the role before it eventually went to Daniel Craig. However, it sounds like the bookies think it’s Cavill’s time to take the role. He’s currently holding on to the top spot as the favourite to become the next 007 with odds of 61/25 and an implied probability of 29.07%.

However, despite remaining highly popular with the bookies, Cavill has suggested that he might be too busy to take on such a demanding and time-consuming role. In an interview with Josh Horowitz, the actor revealed:

I’m quite busy now. I love those guys, Barbara [Broccoli] and Mike [G. Wilson]… Whether I’m considered for the role or not, I don’t know. But it’d be fun to have the conversation, for sure. And if I’m not, then I just want to see what they do with it next, because I think they’re amazing.

As for the rest of the pack, Regé-Jean Page, James Norton, and Tom Hardy are the other three actors that make up the bookies’ top five. They have implied probabilities of 24.33%, 17.31% and 14.52%, respectively. Eon Productions, the company that produces the James Bond films, has not officially cast the next James Bond yet.

However, producers Barabar Broccoli and Micheal G. Wilson have stated that they are looking for “a thirty-something” actor to take on the role. However, they have added that their hunt for the next actor to play the role will not begin until next year.
