It’s been revealed that Cobra Kai’s Xolo Maridueña is in line to become the lead in HBO Max’s upcoming Blue Beetle movie.
This news was revealed by The Wrap and this movie sounds like it’s going to be very, very interesting.
Blue Beetle will be the first superhero movie to star a Latino lead.
Maridueña has already proven himself to be an excellent lead in the Netflix series, Cobra Kai.
He’s also someone with extensive knowledge of on-screen fighting – he’s really good at it.
As it stands, he is “in talks” with Warner Bros. Pictures, but that usually means that the deal is pretty much done.
Cobra Kai’s Xolo Maridueña set to star as the lead in HBO Max’s Blue Beetle movie
The movie will be helmed by Charm City Kings director Angel Manuel Soto.
He’ll be working from a script written by Mexican-born writer Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, who wrote Universal’s Scarface remake and Sony’s Miss Bala.
Blue Beetle is a pretty interesting comic book superhero.
In the comics, Blue Beetle has been a mantle held by three different heroes.
However, it looks like the film will focus on Mexican-American teenager Jaime Reyes.
He was the third character to assume the Blue Beetle mantle.
