Henry Cavill has revealed that he feels very lucky that he didn’t end up getting the James Bond movie role before Daniel Craig got the role.
He revealed this during an interview with Men’s Health (via The Express).
During the interview, Cavill recalled what the audition for James Bond was like.
Interestingly enough, Cavill was told by the movie’s director (Martin Campbell) that he was a bit “chubby”.
Henry Cavill is kind of glad he didn’t get the James Bond role
Here’s what Cavill had to say on his James Bond audition:
I probably could have prepared better [for the Bond audition]. I remember the director, Martin Campbell, saying: ‘Looking a little chubby there, Henry.’ I didn’t know how to train or diet. And I’m glad Martin said something because I respond well to truth. It helps me get better.
He then added that in retrospect that he was glad that he never got the role.
I know what it feels like to go from out of shape to in shape and [afterwards] I’ll look at myself like: ‘Man, well done.’
Cavill then added:
It’s not like I’m a golden god – I’m just proud of what I achieved. And then you can take your clothes off in front of your significant other, and they’re like: ‘Goddamn, you look great!’ Like: ‘Yes! I’m making other people happy.’
