It was revealed at last night’s Golden Globes that Chadwick Boseman won the Best Actor award for his incredible performance in the Netflix film, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.

Boseman was awarded the Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama and it was a bittersweet moment.

He was the favourite for the award, however, it was just so sad not to see him accept the award.

Chadwick Boseman tragically passed away last year at the age of 43.

He is now the first Black actor to win a Golden Globe posthumously.

Boseman’s wife, Taylor Simone Ledward, accepted the award on his behalf and she made an emotional speech.

“He would thank God. He would’ve thanked his parents, he would thank his ancestors for their guidance and their sacrifices. He would thank his incredible team… he would thank his team on set for this film. He would say something beautiful. Something inspiring. Something that would amplify that little voice inside of all of us that tells you you can, that tells you to keep going, that calls you back to what you are meant to be doing at this moment in history. And I don’t have his words. But we have to take a moment to celebrate those we love, so thank you HFPA for this opportunity to do exactly that. And hon, you keep ’em coming.
