Here Are The 10 Best Horror Films From The Past Decade

This decade, the 2010s, has been an incredible decade for horror movies. We’ve seen some of the best horror films ever made during the past ten years.

They often say that during times of hardship and political unrest, you get the best of what horror has to offer, and that’s certainly been the case in the 2010s.

It was especially true during the latter part of the 2010s, as you’ll see in this list.

The majority of the films in this list came out in the last six years of the decade, and there could be a reason for that.

Perhaps 2014 was when the trouble really started and then filmmakers started to be more inspired by the political unrest and problems in the world which have started to become insurmountable.

Problems such as the climate crisis, the housing crisis, shortages of food, war, civil unrest, more and more people experiencing mental health issues, Brexit, Trump…

All these facts could have lead to filmmakers being inspired to make some of the most horrific and effecting horror movies we’ve ever seen, and I’m going to go through ten of the very best horror films made in the past ten years.

So, without further ado, here are the ten best horror movies made in the past decade.

So, there you have it. These are the ten best horror movies made in the past decade, according to Small Screen, of course.

There are a whole load of horror movies I didn’t put in this list but should be mentioned.

There are the likes of It Chapter One, Jennifer’s Body, Don’t Breathe, Goodnight Mommy, A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night, Black Swan (although I struggle to class that film as a horror film), Annihilation, 10 Cloverfield Lane and who could forget Nicolas Cage in Mandy.

These movies would have definitely made it into my top 20 horror movies from the past decade, but I liked keeping it to ten.

It’s much more challenging doing it that way.

I’m pretty sure we’re going to see plenty of other great horror movies in the upcoming decade.

It already looks like we’re off to a good start with the likes of Candyman, A Quiet Place Part 2, Edgar Wright’s Last Night In Soho, Scott Cooper’s Antlers and Antebellum (from the creators of Get Out) all coming out this year.

We’ve also got Nic Cage in Color Out Of Space which looks very freaky indeed, and is based on an H.P. Lovecraft book, so I’m very much down for that movie.
