The title announcement video depicts a voiceover describing the forging of the 20 great rings.

It’s not specified whose voice that is, but I suspect it could be that of Galadriel’s, who will reportedly be portrayed by Morfydd Clark.

The show is set to take place in the Second Age of Middle Earth, well before the events of The Hobbit.

In a statement, showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay said:

This is a title that we imagine could live on the spine of a book next to J.R.R. Tolkien’s other classics,” showrunners said in a statement. The Rings of Power unites all the major stories of Middle-earth’s Second Age: the forging of the rings, the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron, the epic tale of Númenor, and the Last Alliance of Elves and Men. Until now, audiences have only seen on-screen the story of the One Ring – but before there was one, there were many… and we’re excited to share the epic story of them all.

J.A. Bayona will reportedly direct the first two episodes of the series.

Wayne Che Yip, and Charlotte Brändström will direct the rest of the show’s episodes.

This series has been in the works for so long now, and at quite the cost for Amazon.

We cannot wait to return to Middle Earth for what will hopefully be another thrilling adventure.
