It’s been revealed that Kristen Stewart has been cast as Princess Diana in Pablo Larraín’s movie about the royal in the movie Spencer.
Every now and then you’ll get a bit of casting news that’ll really get you scratching your head in confusion.
Today is one of those days because it’s been revealed by Deadline that Kristen Stewart has been cast as Princess Diana.
She’ll be playing the royal in the movie Spencer which will be directed by Pablo Larraín.
This is the second case of a non-British actor playing the role.
Naomi Watts played Diana Spencer in the movie Diana, and she did a pretty good job in what was a terrible movie.
However, it seems as though Hollywood is just unable to cast a Brit as Diana.
Kristen Stewart will play Princess Diana in Spencer
I have a lot of time for Stewart. I’ve said it time and time again, I genuinely believe she’s a really good actress.
I loved her in some of the smaller, more independent movies she’s done.
Watch the likes of Personal Shopper, Adventureland, Clouds of Sils Maria and I loved her in Still Alice.
I even thought her performance in the recent Charlie’s Angels movie was perfectly fine.
However, she’s someone who’s struggled to really get from out from underneath that Twilight movies-shaped cloud.
It’s a shame because she’s shown how talented she is.
All that said, I think she so wrong for this role, but then again, it could end up being inspired casting.
Larraín’s made some good movies in the past.
His film No is, I think, a masterpiece, and I thought Jackie was fine.
Let’s wait and see what this movie has to offer, but I have to say, I’m now interested in watching a movie about Princess Diana.
