Ewan McGregor Reveals Filming On Kenobi TV Show Has Been Delayed But The Release Date Hasn’t

Ewan McGregor has finally broken his silence over what’s going on with the Obi-Wan Kenobi TV show, and it’s good and ever-so-slightly bad news.

The Scottish actor was talking to ComicBook.com during the ongoing Birds Of Prey press junket which is touring the world at the moment.

During this interview, Ewan McGregor was asked what was going on with the Kenobi TV show on Disney Plus and whether there was any truth to the rumours that the show’s been delayed by Lucasfilm?

This was when Ewan opted to open up and bring an end to all the rumours and speculation about the upcoming Star Wars live-action TV show.

Here’s what Ewan McGregor has to say about the current state of the Kenobi TV show.

It just slipped to next year, that’s all. The scripts are really good. I think that so now that Episode IX came out and everyone at Lucasfilm’s got more time to look to spend on the writing, they felt like they wanted more time to write the episodes.

I read about 80-90 per cent of what they’ve written so far and it’s really, really good. And instead of shooting this August, they just want to start shooting in January, that’s all. It’s nothing more dramatic than that. It often happens in projects, they just wanted to push it to next year.

Ewan McGregor has spoken. Everything’s fine with the Kenobi series

Ewan then went on to add that despite the delay in shooting, the series’ release date on Disney Plus will remain the same, which is very good news indeed.

It will have the same release date, I don’t think it will affect the release date. They’re still shooting towards having the [series] released when it was going to originally release.

This is all very good news in my eyes, and the fact that Kenobi’s filming has been delayed shouldn’t really come as much of a surprise.

The Kenobi TV show on Disney Plus still has Deborah Chow as its showrunner, and I’m also really glad to hear that she’s also still on-board.
