Disney’s Response To Lawsuit Shocks Scarlett Johansson

The increasingly bitter feud between Disney and Scarlett Johansson is sadly showing no signs of slowing down.

As reported by The Wrap, Johansson is said to have been shocked by the manner of Disney’s response to the lawsuit filed by the Black Widow star.

Johansson filed the lawsuit as she believed that the dual release of the film theatrically and on Disney+, was in breach of her contract.

Johansson alleges that her contract stipulated that she was to receive a share of the film’s profits from an exclusive cinematic release.

Disney did not mince their words in response to the lawsuit saying: “There is no merit whatsoever to this filing.”

They went on to say: “The lawsuit is especially sad and distressing in its callous disregard for the horrific and prolonged global effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

The actress was said to be shocked by the fiery nature of Disney’s statement, and Johansson’s agent, Bryan Lourd hit back in no uncertain terms:

They have shamelessly and falsely accused Ms. Johansson of being insensitive to the global COVID pandemic, in an attempt to make her appear to be someone they and I know she isn’t.

He went on to criticise the studio for what he perceived to be a direct attack on Johansson’s character:

Disney’s direct attack on her character and all else they implied is beneath the company that many of us in the creative community have worked with successfully for decades.

With other actors, such as Emma Stone reportedly considering her own legal action over Cruella‘s release, it will be interesting to see how this lawsuit plays out.
