Blumhouse’s Upgrade Movie Is Getting A TV Series Sequel

It’s been revealed that Blumhouse’s movie, Upgrade is going to get a sequel, but it will be in the form of a TV series which is interesting.

According to Deadline, Leigh Whannell’s 2018 Blumhouse sci-fi thriller feature Upgrade is getting a TV series follow-up.

This is both incredible and slightly strange news.

The movie starred Logan Marshall-Green, Betty Gabriel and Harrison Gilbertson and it ended up being one of my favourite movies of 2018.

It was unlike anything I’d seen before and Whannell’s gone on to make what might be my favourite movie of 2020 in The Invisible Man.

I was wondering whether they’ll ever make a sequel to Upgrade, however, I do think a TV series is a good way to do a follow-up.

The Upgrade TV series will be co-created and executive produced by Whannell and Tim Walsh (Treadstone) who serves as showrunner.

Blumhouse Television and UCP are collaborating on the adaptation, and they have opened a writers room.

It’s been revealed that the series will pick up a few years after the events of the movie.

It’ll broaden the universe with an evolved version of STEM and a new host – imagining a world in which the government repurposes STEM to help curb criminal activity.

Sounds like a really cool show if you ask me.
