Anthony Hopkins Pays Tribute To Chadwick Boseman

Anthony Hopkins has made a video in which he thanks the Academy for the Best Actor award, and he also pays tribute to Chadwick Boseman.

Hopkins posted the video on his Instagram account and he seemed genuinely moved by the win and also saddened by Boseman’s passing.

There were a number of people who were critical of Hopkins for not receiving the award in person.

However, this isn’t the first time Hopkins didn’t turn up to an award show he was nominated for.

He wasn’t present at the BAFTAs where he also won the Best Actor award.

Hopkins also didn’t go to the Oscars last year and he was nominated for his performance in Netflix’s The Two Popes.

It seems as though he just doesn’t want to travel to LA, and at 83 years of age, who can blame him.

Also, with COVID-19, it’s much safer for Hopkins not to travel.

Here’s what Hopkins had to say in the video he posted.

Good morning. Here I am in my homeland of Wales, and at 83 years of age, I did not expect to get this award – I really didn’t, and I’m very grateful to the Academy and thank you, and I want to pay tribute to Chadwick Boseman who was taken from us far too early, and again, thank you all very much. I really did not expect this, so I feel very privileged and honoured. Thank you.
