Marvel Cinematic Universe: Kevin Feige’s Thinking Of Bringing The Mandarin Back To The MCU

MARVEL STUDIO’S President, Kevin Feige, has revealed that he’s planning on bringing back The Mandarin and The Ten Rings to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is in a stronger position than it’s ever been what with the incredible success of its most recent film, Avengers: Endgame.

The film broke all sorts of records at the box office, even toppling James Cameron’s Titanic in the process

Marvel Studios now have Avatar in their sights, which remains to this day the highest-grossing movie of all time.

However, it’s now time to think beyond Avengers and towards the future, since the MCU’s also going have to work out how they can carry on in a post-Endgame world.

The answer: by looking to its past and potential mixing some old characters with some of the new ones, and maybe exploring those plot threads which they left hanging in the previous films, such as Iron Man 3.

Iron Man 3 introduced audiences to the MCU’s version of The Mandarin (played brilliantly by Sir Ben Kingsley). However, he turned out to be nothing but an actor called Trevor Slattery, which in my eyes was a great twist, but some Marvel Comics fans took it rather badly.

That said, they then made a Marvel One Shot called Hail the King, which teased the existence of the real Mandarin and The Ten Rings, which is his – or her – villainous organisation.

During an Ask Me Anything Q&A on Reddit, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige was asked if he would ever revisit The Mandarin and the Ten Rings in the MCU and all he said was, “Yes.”

He didn’t elaborate on that, but it certainly looks as if they’re looking to bring the character back into the MCU somewhere down the line and that should get fans excited for what’s to come.

There is the possibility that they could something TV-related with the character and The Ten Rings with the upcoming release of their streaming service, Disney+.

We’ll just have to wait and see. What do you make of The Mandarin possibly returning to the MCU? Let us know in the comments below.
