Felicity Jones played Jyn Erso in Gareth Edwards’ Star Wars spinoff movie, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and she was brilliant in the movie.
However, it’s difficult to see how she could return to the Star Wars franchise given the way the movie ended, but it sounds like she still wants to appear in another movie set in a galaxy far, far away.
They are making a Cassian Andor TV series on Disney Plus, so perhaps she could make some sort of appearance in that, but even then, it wouldn’t quite make sense because it’s made very clear that they don’t know one another before the events of Rogue One.
Anyway, Jones was chatting about her upcoming movie, The Aeronauts with Business Insider, and during the interview, she was asked whether she’d ever consider returning to Star Wars.
Her answer was a pretty emphatic yes, as she replied:
I would love to [return]. She’s a tremendous character to play. I adored making the film. Maybe she can be reincarnated.
Felicity Jones wants to return as Rogue One’s Jyn Erso
Personally, I would love to see her in another Star Wars movie, but I just don’t know how they could do it logistically-speaking.
So, people who haven’t seen Rogue One yet, look away now because I’m going to spoil the movie, but Jyn Erso dies at the end of the movie.
They make that fact very clear in the movie, so technically there’s no real way she could return as Jyn in the Star Wars franchise.
The only way they could do it really would be if they do some sort of prequel movie, and I doubt Lucasfilm would greenlight that film, no matter how popular Erso was.
