It’s been revealed to us by a source reportedly close to Warner Bros. Animation that a Batman: The Animated Series sequel is in the works for HBO Max. This is something that’s been hinted at for a number of years, and it looks like it’s finally happening.

This is something that was hinted at by a various number of outlets and ‘scoopers’.

The likes of Daniel Richtman posted that Batman: The Animated Series was getting a sequel for instance. This all came after it was revealed that both Batman: The Aniamted Series and Batman Beyond were coming to HBO Max.

Well, it looks like we’re also going to be getting a sequel to Batman: The Animated Series at some point in the future.

This news was revaled to us by a source with reportedly close ties to Warner Bros. Animation, and they had some interesting information to share about the project.

Here’s what our source had to say about the Batman: The Animated Series sequel being in development for HBO Max:

Yes, I can confirm that a sequel series is in the works. Bruce Timm will be working on the show.

So, that to me seemed pretty solid, but I wanted a little bit more information about the series. Will Kevin Conroy be returning to voice Batman in the series? What about Mark Hamill? Will he be voicing The Joker again?

However, I also realize that I don’t want to push my sources too far and that they are risking quite a bit by telling me this information.

Many of them also let me quote them directly, like this source did.

That in itself can also be dangerous for them.

That said, the source did come back to me and reveal that Kevin Conroy was, at the moment, attached to the project. This makes sense. I mean, you can’t make a sequel to Batman: The Animated Series without Kevin Conroy as the voice of Batman and Bruce Wayne.

Here’s what the source had to say about Kevin Conroy returning as Batman in the Batman: The Animated Series sequel:

As it stands, Kevin Conroy is attached to voice Batman in the sequel series.

It’s still not clear whether Mark Hamill will be returning to play the Joker

But, what about Mark Hamill, I hear you ask? Will he be back to voice The Joker in the sequel series? Here’s what my source had to say on that front:

Things aren’t so clear regarding Mark Hamill. I can’t confirm that he’ll be back to play The Joker. I can’t confirm that The Joker will even be involved in the series at all.

As I said earlier, these are still early days as far as this sequel series is concerend. They are still probably in early development and just coming up with the stories for the show as we speak.

Maybe one of the episodes involves The Joker in some way.

If so, I’m pretty sure Mark Hamill would agree to play the character again, especially if Kevin Conroy’s voicing Batman.
