The Very First Teaser Trailer For Solo: A Star Wars Story Is Finally Here

The very first teaser trailer for Ron Howard’s Han Solo spinoff movie, Solo: A Star Wars Story, has finally landed. Check it out here.

Solo: A Star Wars Story has been talked about for quite some time now, but we’ve only just been given our first look at the Han Solo spin-off movie. First, we had last night’s mini teaser at the Super Bowl, and then this morning we got the full teaser trailer. Yep, this is something that happens now. We get full teaser trailers before the full trailer.

This film has been in a bit of delicate state since its conception. First off, they couldn’t find the right person to play young Han Solo; a role made iconic by Harrison Ford. They finally settled on Alden Ehrenreich, who incidentally was the first person they auditioned for the part. Then production started but after a few months of shooting Phil Lord and Chris Miller were fired from the project. Ron Howard then stepped in, and things seemed to go a bit more smoothly after that.

Now we have this trailer, which showcases a fun-filled ride that resembles the Star Wars movies of the past yet still feels very much apart from what we’ve seen before. Yes, there are TIE fighters. Yes, there is the Millenium Falcon. Yes, there are droids. And yes, Chewie, Han and Lando Calrissian are all involved. Yet, this feels much more like a caper-action movie than an out-and-out Star Wars film, and I like that.

Incidentally, we get our first proper look at Donald Glover as Lando, and I have to say that he looks perfect for the role. We also see snippets of Woody Harrelson’s character, Beckett (who may or may not be Han’s role model). There are also a few scenes with Emilia Clarke’s Kira, who seems to be the voice of reason in Han’s team of loveable rogues.

The thing I’m going to have to admit is that I’m still not sold on Ehrenreich as Solo. He has a considerable task as young Han Solo and the boots he’s trying to fill are immeasurable. That said, after all the rumours surrounding his acting ability and the issues behind the scenes, can you blame me for having reservations about this film and his performance. However, I will reserve judgement on the movie until I see and as I said before, it looks like a lot of fun.

Solo: A Star Wars Story will be hitting UK cinemas on May 25th. Are you looking forward to this movie? Let us know in the comments below.
