Mads Mikkelsen Suggests Johnny Depp Might Return To The Fantastic Beasts Movies

Mads Mikkelsen has revealed that the thinks Johnny Depp could, one day, return to the Fantastic Beasts franchise, which I personally think is a bit farfetched! Mikkelsen said this during an interview with Deadline.

It was huge news when it was revealed that Johnny Depp had been removed from Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets Of Dumbledore as Gellert Grindelwald. This was a decision that was taken by Warner Bros after Depp lost his defamation trial against The Sun newspaper in the UK.

People were kind of stunned, but many pundits, myself included, thought that Mads Mikkelsen was actually a better fit for the role of Grindelwald. Then the movie was released, and many critics felt that the film was pretty poor but that Mikkelsen was the best thing about it.

Anyway, the Danish actor has since revealed that he believes Johnny Depp could return to the Fantastic Beasts franchise at some point in the future. You can check out what he had to say on the matter below.

Here’s what Mads Mikkelsen had to say about replacing Johnny Depp in the Fantastic Beasts franchise:

It was very intimidating. Obviously, well, now the course has changed—he won the suit, the court [case]—so let’s see if he comes back. He might. I’m a big fan of Johnny. I think he’s an amazing actor, I think he did a fantastic job. Having said that, I could not copy it. There’s there was no way I could just copy it, because it’s so much him. It would be creative suicide. So, we had to come up with something else, something that was mine, and build a bridge between him and me. So, yes, it was intimidating. His fans were very, very sweet, but they were also very stubborn. I didn’t interact too much with them, but I could understand why they had their hearts broken.
