Andrew Garfield And Tobey Maguire Have Reportedly Signed On For A Live-Action Spider-Verse Film

It’s being reported that Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have managed to get Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire to sign on for a Spider-Verse movie. This report comes to us via Geekosity’s Mikey Sutton and it’s very exciting news indeed.

In his article, Sutton writes: “An official announcement will be released from Disney and Sony soon, possibly as early as this month.” This is very exciting news, and something that ties in with what I was told a while back about there being a live-action Spider-Verse movie in the works over at Marvel and Sony.

This comes after it was being reported by multiple outlets that Maguire and Garfield had signed on to star in Spider-Man 3. Now, I was told that this isn’t happening, but they were reportedly in talks for a live-action Spider-Verse movie, which would be set up in Spider-Man 4. I was also told that Sam Raimi was going to be directing Spider-Man 4 (allegedly). The idea of a live-action Spider-Verse movie is something that has me, and I’m pretty sure many other Marvel and Spider-Man fans frothing at the mouth slightly. That sounded a bit more disgusting than I thought it would…

Here’s what Mikey Sutton’s sources told him about Maguire and Garfield signing on to star in a live-action Spider-Verse movie:

Insiders inform me that Garfield and Maguire could appear again beyond this movie, expected to be the longest of the Spider-Man films. Maguire’s final bow as Spider-Man is still planned; as I reported before they wanted an Endgame-esque finale for him.

Again, this ties in to what I said in a previous article, which you can read here, in which I said that Marvel and Sony’s plan was to make an Endgame-esque movie for Spider-Man in which we see Maguire, Garfield and Tom Holland’s versions of the wall-crawler possibly team up with the likes of Tom Hardy’s Venom and Jared Leto’s Morbius.
