It’s being rumoured that Shuri played by Letitia Wright will be revealed to be the next Black Panther in Black Panther 2. This rumour comes from Geekosity’s Mikey Sutton who was basically confirming his scoop after an article published recently in The Hollywood Reporter.
That article claimed that Letitia Wright would be getting a more prominent role in the upcoming Black Panther sequel. Here’s what they wrote: “Wright’s character may take on a more prominent role [in Black Panther 2].”
So, it all sounds like Marvel Studios believes that the best way forward is to have T’Challa’s sister, Shuri, to take over the throne of Wakanda, which makes perfect sense. However, this doesn’t mean that she will officially be the next Black Panther right away, but most likely towards the end of the movie.
Letitia Wright’s Shuri could be the next Black Panther in Black Panther 2
This all comes after Marvel Studios EVP Victoria Alonso recently revealed that T’Challa will be not be remade using CGI in Black Panther 2. Here’s what she had to say on the matter during an interview with Clarin:
No. There’s only one Chadwick, and he’s not with us. Our king, unfortunately, has died in real life, not just in fiction, and we are taking a little time to see how we return to history and what we do to honour this chapter of what has happened to us that was so unexpected, so painful, so terrible, really.
