Hugh Jackman Wanted To Play Wolverine In The MCU But The Timings Were Wrong
Hugh Jackman has revealed that he would have played Wolverine in the MCU if Disney had bought Fox seven years earlier, which is such a shame.
The Australian actor revealed this during an interview with The Daily Beast in which he was asked whether he would have played Wolverine in the MCU.
Jackman played Wolverine in 20th Century Fox’s X-Men movies and went on to play him in some standalone Wolverine movies.
In total, Jackman has played Wolverine eight times, nine if you include his cameo in X-Men: First Class.
He’s also sort of been in the Deadpool movies, but I’m not really counting those appearances.
It’s safe to say that Jackman served his time as Wolverine and he was perfect in the role.
However, if Disney’s takeover of Fox has happened earlier, he would have happily starred as Wolverine in the MCU movies.
Hugh Jackman would have played Wolverine in the MCU
Here’s what Hugh Jackman told The Daily Beast about playing Wolverine in the MUC:
If seven years ago that had happened I’d be like, ‘Oh yeah!’ but I knew it was the right time for me to leave the party—not just for me, but for the character. Somebody else will pick it up and run with it. It’s too good of a character not to. It’s kind of like, you’re on your way home and your friend rings you and goes, Oh, dude, a new DJ just came on and the music is awesome, are you going to come back? And you say, Sounds good but… no. They’re fine with someone else.
This is such a shame because he would have been great as Wolverine in those MCU movies.
Imagine him alongside the likes of Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark and Chris Evans’ Captain America?
It would have been great.
However, we’re just going to have to wait and see who they end up casting as Wolverine in the MCU now that the movie rights are back with Marvel Studios.
What do you make of this news?
