It seems as though TikTok’s former CEO, Kevin Mayer, is now the frontrunner to take control of WarnerMedia and Discovery’s upcoming streaming platform.
Now, we still don’t really know what that will be?
Will they just end up keeping HBO Max and Discovery+ separate, or will they merge the two?
It seems as though the idea is the combine the two of them together and make a sort of super-streaming platform.
This would be an interesting way forward and would end up really strengthening both their positions in the streaming game.
Right, back to Kevin Mayer.
According to The New York Post, he’s the guy being looked at right now for the job of heading up this new department.
Before going over to TikTok, Mayer was the head of Disney Plus.
However, he ended up leaving TikTok after just three months after the company got into trouble with the Trump government for their close ties to China.
Has the WarnerMedia/Discovery streaming platform found its new boss?
According to The New York Post, Mayer is, “friendly with a number of Discovery and WarnerMedia insiders, including Discovery Chief Executive David Zaslav.”
This is why his name is at the top of most people’s lists right now.
It seems as though Zaslav is going to be making most the decisions as far as this WarnerMedia and Discovery merger’s concerned.
It already looks like the likes of Toby Emmerich and Jason Kilar are on their way out.
It’s time to bring in some new blood into the company.
