It’s been revealed that Catherine Zeta-Jones has been cast as Morticia Addams in Tim Burton’s Addams Family series on Netflix.

This news was revealed by The Hollywood Reporter and I love this casting.

There’s been a lot of time dedicated to who might end up playing Morticia Addams in this upcoming Addams Family series.

Names such as Christina Ricci and Eva Green were put about, and both would have been excellent choices.

However, one name that never came to mind for me personally was Catherine Zeta-Jones.

When it was announced, all I thought was, “Yes! That’s perfect casting!”.

This news came pretty soon after it was revealed that Luis Guzmán had been cast as Gomez Addams.

The series will be Tim Burton’s first time directing for television and it’s the perfect place for him to start.

It was created by Al Gough and Miles Millar who were the creators of Smallville.

This series was shopped around for quite some time and then there was a big bidding war over it.

Netflix finally came out on top and we’re now starting to get some casting information around it.

The show’s lead will be Jenna Ortega and she’ll be playing Wednesday Addams.

Here’s the plot synopsis:

Wednesday is a comedic, supernaturally-infused coming-of-age series that follows the teenage girl’s years as a student at Nevermore Academy, where she attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the town, and solve a mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new relationships at Nevermore.
