The Old Guard 2 Has Reportedly Been Given The Greenlight By Netflix

It’s being reported that Netflix has now given the greenlight to The Old Guard 2, which was to be expected given how popular the first movie was. This report comes from The Illuminerdi.

I made it very clear in my review of The Old Guard that I didn’t much care for the movie. However, I did see a lot of potential in this franchise, which is seems as though Netflix wants to keep on going.

I liked the premise and I think that Charlize Theron was brilliant in the movie. She’s just brilliant in basically everything. However, I felt like The Old Guard was almost like one of those superheroes movies made in the early 2000s, which is a shame.

However, the fact that the film ended up performing pretty well on the streaming service, Netflix has been very quick to ensure that work gets underway on the sequel as soon as humanly possible.

The Illuminerdi is claiming that the film’s cast is set to return, and Gina Prince-Bythewood is likely to return to direct the movie. The Old Guard 2 is also likely to be adapted from the graphic novel sequel, called The Old Guard: Force Multiplied.

So, it sounds like it’s full steam ahead as far as The Old Guard 2 is concerned, which even though I didn’t like the first film much, I think it’s good news. As I said before, there’s potential as far as The Old Guard franchise is concerned.
