Nicolas Cage Almost Played Superman In The CW’s Crisis On Infinite Earths

It’s pretty well known that Nicolas Cage almost played Superman in Tim Burton’s Superman Lives movie which was sadly cancelled.

There were pictures of Cage dressed in the Superman suit and everything, but it never happened and it was one of those things that we’ll never get to see.

However, there was a chance that we were going to get to see Cage play the DC Comics superhero finally in The CW’s Crisis On Infinite Earths crossover event.

Yet, that never ended up happening either, which just adds salt to the already painful wound.

Apparently Cage love superman and even owned a copy of the very first issue of Action Comics that ended up selling at auction for $2.1 million, and he even named his son Kal-El.

Cage ended up voicing Superman in the movie Teen Titans Go! To The Movies, but we never had the chance to see him play the role in live-action.

In a recent interview with IndieWire, The CW producer Marc Guggenheim admitted that he did reach out to Cage and asked him if he wanted to play an older version of the DC Comics superhero in their Crisis On Infinite Earths crossover event.

Here’s what he had to say about asking Nicolas Cage to play Superman:

You know, to be honest with you, because I never want to lie on these things, that was … yeah, I did. We did reach out to Nic Cage.

It seems as though Cage ended up declining on Guggenheim’s offer to play Superman in The CW DC Comics universe.

I still have my fingers crossed that we will one day get to see Nicolas Cage play Superman on the screen.
