Fans have come out in droves to pay tribute to Gaspard Ulliel after his debut performance in Disney Plus’ Moon Knight series.

Gaspard tragically died earlier this year after a skiing accident in the French Alpes.

The French actor was only 37 years old and he was about to star in one of Marvel Studios’ biggest 2022 releases.

It was revealed that Ulliel was going to be playing a character called Anton Mogart.

In the show notes, Morgart is described as a fabulously rich collector of ancient Egyptian artefacts with very dubious morality.

However, comic book connoisseurs will know that Morgart also goes by the name of Midnight Man.

When it was revealed that Ulliel was going to be playing Morgart, I got very excited for two reasons.

Firstly, Ulliel was a terrific actor and had so much potential.

Secondly, Midnight Man in the MCU would be brilliant!

Rest in peace, Gaspard Ulliel

Well, we got to see some of his performance in Moon Knight Episode 3 and I’m hoping that we’ll get to see more of him later on in the series.

I won’t go into what happens in the episode in case you haven’t watched it yet.

However, what I will say is that Gaspard looked great in the episode and it just made me so sad to watch since he’s no longer with us.

Fans took to Twitter to pay tribute to the actor after they watched the episode.

One fan said: “I’ve been dreading the moment I’d see this In Memoriam at the end of a ⁦@moonknight⁩ episode on ⁦@disneyplus⁩. 😢 Reposez en paix, Gaspard Ulliel.”

Another added: “RiP Gaspard Ulliel gone to soon #MoonKnight.”

“Reading all these appreciation tweets about Gaspard’s performance in #MoonKnight makes me super emotional. this man was exceptional. you are forever our star,” added another fan.

Gaspard was a very well known and loved actor in France.

He was nominated for the César Award for Most Promising Actor for three consecutive years between 2003 and 2005 (which is unheard of).

He won the award in 2005 for his performance as World War I soldier Manech in A Very Long Engagement.

In 2015, he earned his first César nomination for Best Actor for his performance in Saint Laurent, which is a brilliant movie by the way.

In 2017, he won the César Award for Best Actor for his role as a terminally ill playwright in Xavier Dolan’s It’s Only the End of the World.

Ulliel also became a Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters in France in 2015, which is an extremely high honour.

All I can say is RIP, Gaspard. You will be missed.
