Samuel L. Jackson Wants Mace Windu To Return In A Future Star Wars Film

Samuel L. Jackson has revealed he’d like to return to play the Jedi Master, Mace Windu, in a future Star Wars movie, and I’d love it to happen.

Is there a huge Hollywood franchise that Samuel L. Jackson hasn’t starred in? He’s Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is already a pretty big deal, but before that he starred as Mace Windu in the Star Wars prequels.

Those are without question two of Hollywood’s biggest franchises ever, and Jackson has been in both of them. However, Windu’s ending in the Star Wars movies was a bit of an anti-climax.

He was supposedly the strongest Jedi ever, and he ended up being thrown out of a window by Emperor Palpatine after Anakin Skywalker had chopped off his hand, and then it was all over for poor old Windu.

However, Jackson’s since been adamant that the Jedi Knight is still out there and that Anakin and Palpatine never got the better of him, which would make sense. The current theory is that Windu went into hiding after having had his backside thoroughly handed to him.

The actor has now revealed during a recent appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert that he’d love to play the role again in the future.

“I’d really love to give one more run at Mace Windu in Star Wars,” he said.

There had been rumours that Mace Windu was going to get his own spinoff show a few years back. This rumour came after director A.J. Edwards (The Better Angels) revealed he was in talks with Lucasfilm about directing a Star Wars movie.

He then went on to reveal that this spinoff movie would focus on Mace Windu, but all’s gone quiet on that front ever since Disney and Lucasfilm decided to cool it with the Star Wars spinoff movies.

That said, the fact that Jackson is still interested in tackling the role means there might be the possibility of seeing a Mace Windu movie or even a TV show appear on Disney + which wouldn’t be a bad place for something like that.
