You Season 4: Netflix Release Date, Cast & Story

You is one of Netflix’s hottest shows right now and people are desperate to know a little more about Season 4, which has been confirmed as being in production by the streamer.

Here is the tweet in which Netflix revealed that the fourth season of You was in the works:

So, that is very good news for all the fans of the show, and there are a lot of you guys out there.

This show has proven to be a mainstay hit for Netflix, and for good reason – it’s a bloody good show!

It’s also highly addictive, which is quite strange considering it’s a show about a creepy stalker.

However, it’s quite a lot of fun to creep on a creeper.

It also has some incredible performances in it.

Penn Badgley is the show’s lead and he is just brilliant as the bookshop manager/stalker/serial killer Joe Goldberg.

Season 2 saw Victoria Pedretti, James Scully, Jenna Ortega, and Carmela Zumbado all join the cast.

I thought that Pedretti was particularly good in the third season.

So, yes. You Season 4 is happening, which is great news.

It also shouldn’t come as much of a shock to many of you who follow the show given how Season 3 ended.

There’s clearly a lot more story to tell.

That said, so far there are only three books in Caroline Kepnes’ series of books on which the show is based.

However, I do believe that Kepnes is working on more books in this series.

There’s still a lot of stuff to happen in this show and also in the books.

I will say, however, that I do sometimes find it a bit hard to get my head around how Joe gets away with murder so easily in this show.

He has a very long string of murders surrounding him and he still seems to get away with it, without being a particularly clever killer.

Right, onto the thing that you all want to know: when will You Season 4 be released on Netflix?

Well, there are some rumours making the rounds that Season 4 might actually be coming out sooner than expected.

I’ve heard some people say that Season 4 could be out early 2022, however, that’s not been confirmed as of yet.

One thing we can do is look at how long Netflix takes to make their shows and come up with our best ‘guestimate’ of when the show will be hitting the streaming platform.

The third season was confirmed to be in production on November 2nd, 2020, and concluded by April 23rd, 2021.

So, if the show goes into production this November, then it should be finished around about April time in 2022.

This means that we could expect to see You Season 4 land on Netflix sometime in October/November 2022.

What could happen in the fourth season?

Well, it seems as though the show’s producers, Greg Berlanti and Sera Gamble, are very keen to take some story beats from the books.

Netflix does say season four will be based on the novels You and Hidden Bodies by Kepnes.

“Reading Caroline’s novel, Greg and I were instantly obsessed with Joe Goldberg and his twisted world view,” Gamble said in a statement.

And it’s been thrilling to watch Penn bring Joe to creepy yet compelling life. We’re deeply grateful that Netflix has shown You such monumental support, and that people around the world have enjoyed watching Joe really get it all very wrong over the past three seasons. The whole You team is excited to explore new, dark facets of love in season four.

So, it sounds like those who’ve read all the books – I’ve only read the first one myself – might know what’s going to happen next.
