When Will The Witcher Season 2 Be Released On Netflix?

WARNING: There are SPOILERS for The Witcher Season 2 in this article.

The Witcher Season 1 landed on Netflix just before Christmas and people went mad for the Netflix show.

People are now desperate to know what’s going to unfold in Season 2 of The Witcher, but the first thing we need to know is when it’ll be released on Netflix.

There’s been a lot said about The Witcher Season 2, but we still don’t have an official release date for the show.

Netflix did officially greenlight Season 2, and the show’s producer, creator and writer, Lauren S. Hissrich revealed that it would be coming out in 2021.

That’s not really much of a release date, but it’s a start.

She revealed this during a recent Reddit AMA session and revealed: “We don’t yet have a target launch date for season 2, past 2021.”

Netflix announced that The Witcher Season 2 was happening on November 13, which was about six weeks before the first season aired.

That tends to suggest Netflix really liked what they saw and had confidence that people would want to see a Season 2.

This is very good news for the future of the show, and the fact that it ended up in Netflix’s ten most-streamed show of 2019 is proof of its popularity.

It’s since been revealed that The Witcher Season 2 is beginning filming this month.

This information was revealed during a recent post on Reddit.

Geralt of Rivia himself, Henry Cavill, discussed his return to the show during a recent video which he posted on Instagram.

“Hello everybody. I’m back. I have been enjoying my Christmas break, perhaps a little too much at some points, but now it’s back to work.

“Pre-production will be beginning very shortly on The Witcher Season 2.”

He posted this video back in January 10th, 2020, which seems to indicate that The Witcher Season 2 will begin filming in February.

We could only really hazard a guess at when The Witcher Season 2 will be with us, but I would suggest that around January or February 2021 might be about right.

They tend to take six months to shoot these Netflix shows and then another 6 months of post-production.

As for what will happen in Season 2, I’m going to be honest, your guess is as good as mine.

Ciri and Geralt will be together in Season 2 and Geralt, Ciri and Yennefer will all be in the same timeline in the upcoming season.

This means that the three of them will probably meet in Season 2 and go on an adventure together.

In the video games, Geralt tends to spend the brunt of his time alone apart from some side quests and the main story.

The Witcher could go on for ages

However, I think they’re taking more story beats from the books, and he does spend a lot of time with Ciri and Yennefer in the original source material.

The first season of the show was a bit disjointed because it was non-linear.

I think they’ll end up ditching that side of the show because many viewers did complain that it was rather cofusion to follow at times.

Yet, that could make The Witcher just feel a bit too formulaic, so we’ll have to wait and see what Hissrich decides to do with The Witcher Season 2.

She has said in the past that she has enough ideas and inspiration to write more than seven seasons of the show.

It’ll be interesting to see whether Netflix allows her to do that.

They tend to cancel shows after their fourth or fifth seasons.

Only Orange Is The New Black and Grace And Frankie have gone on for longer than five seasons.

Orange Is The New Black got seven seasons and Grace And Frankie Season 7 has just been confirmed.

Apart from that, five is the best you can hope to get.

Perhaps The Witcher will buck that trend.

We can only hope because I for one think there’s a lot of promise in this show, and it’s only really finding its feet.
