When Is The Witcher’s Release Date On Netflix?

The Witcher is gearing up to be one of the biggest shows to come out this year, and many people are really looking forward to watching the Netflix show, yet they might be wondering exactly when it’s release date exactly is.

The show will be starring Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, who’s the main character of the show and taken directly from the books.

Netflix’s upcoming TV show, The Witcher, is based on the book series of the same name by Andrzej Sapkowski, and there were also very popular video games made based on the property.

This series will, however, incorporate elements from the games, yet we’re not sure what those elements will be just yet.

It was revealed in the marketing material for The Witcher that the Netflix show will land on December 20th, 2019.

When is The Witcher’s release date?

This means that The Witcher will have to compete with Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker which is being released on the same day in the US.

The final Star Wars film is being released a day earlier here in the UK – December 19th, 2019.

Anyway, I’m sure that people will find time to watch both The Witcher and The Rise Of Skywalker, so I don’t think Netflix is too worried about sharing a release date with the upcoming Star Wars movie.

The Witcher is being created by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich for Netflix and she’s been talking about the show to SFX Magazine, and she revealed that they’ve already got seven seasons of The Witcher TV series all mapped out, which sounds mad to me.

“I’ve [mapped out stories] for seven seasons,” said Hissrich told SFX.

“Right now it’s just about, ‘how do you set up stories that really capture audiences for years at a time?’ The worst thing we could do is put all of our energies just into season one, and not be thinking about where these characters can grow to.”

It’s interesting that they’re announcing this now because no Netflix show has ever had seven seasons.

They must be incredibly confident in The Witcher, otherwise, they wouldn’t have announced this little bit of news.

I mean, it’s a good thing that they’re thinking so far ahead, but I would also think that they would be better suited to making sure the first season is as good as it possibly can be.
