The Witcher Netflix Series Already Has Planned Out 7 Seasons

The Witcher is probably going to be one of the biggest shows on Netflix this year, a bit behind Stranger Things maybe, and people seem to be rather excited to see the first season.

The show stars Henry Cavill as Geralt De Rivia, a Witcher, and it’s based on the book series of the same name by Andrzej Sapkowski, and there were very popular video games made based on the property.

Yet, this Netflix series, which has been created by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich for Netflix, will strictly follow the books and not the games.

That said, the have revealed that they’re going to incorporate elements of the games in the series. It’ll be interesting to see exactly which elements they’ve opted to include in the series.

Anyway, Lauren Schmidt Hissrich has been talking about the show to SFX Magazine, and she revealed that they’ve already got seven seasons of The Witcher TV series all mapped out, which sounds pretty crazy to me considering the first season hasn’t even aired yet, and Netflix doesn’t tend to let shows go beyond four seasons.

The Witcher could go on for seven seasons

“I’ve [mapped out stories] for seven seasons,” said Hissrich told SFX.

“Right now it’s just about, ‘how do you set up stories that really capture audiences for years at a time?’ The worst thing we could do is put all of our energies just into season one, and not be thinking about where these characters can grow to.”

They certainly seem to be very confident that the show will do well and that people will want it to carry on for seven seasons.

I mean, it’s a good thing that they’re thinking so far ahead, but I would also think that they would be better suited to making sure the first season is as good as it possibly can be.
