The Umbrella Academy Season 2 Might Go The 1960s

The Umbrella Academy Season 2 is apparently “coming soon” according to a recent post on Netflix’s Instagram account, and this also means that people are starting to come up with their theories on what might happen in the upcoming season.

I’ve read a lot of fan theories on The Umbrella Academy Season 2, and some of them are quite interesting, but there’s one which was posted on Screen Rant which really caught my eye.

The theory suggesting that the members of The Umbrella Academy will end up time jumping to 1963 in Season 2, and once you put two and two together this particular theory really starts to add up.

We already know that The Umbrella Academy was forced to jump back through time after they failed to stop the end of the world.

Now, we don’t know where they went after this time jump, and many people are theorising that they are going to go back to the 1990s because it looked like they were transforming into their younger selves.

However, the theory suggests that they might actually be going back to 1960s Dallas, and there are a whole load of reasons why this could be the case.

We already know that Number 5 was tasked with the mission of having to assassinate President JFK in 1963 in Dallas, and we know that he didn’t succeed in doing it, but someone else did.

The theory suggests that the person who took out the president was actually a member of The Umbrella Academy, but they did it in the second season.

It all boils down to the whole, “Kill Kennedy, Save the World” storyline in the Dallas Volume of The Umbrella Academy comic books.

Gerard Way himself – he’s the man who wrote the comics, and was also the lead singer of My Chemical Romance – has said that Season 2 would focus more on that volume of his comic books series.

This means that the second season could very likely end up taking place in 1960s Dallas.

In the Dallas story arc of the comics, Number 5 teams up with the Temps Aeternalis (which is called the Commission in the show) to try and convince his older self to assassinate Kennedy in 1963.

The reason he does this is because doing so would apparently save the world from nuclear destruction.

Something similar could happen in the Netflix TV show.

There’s also the fact that the very first episode of Season 2 is called ‘Right Back Where We Started’, which seems to suggest they might end up going back to the 1990s, early 2000s, when they started fighting crime as The Umbrella Academy.

However, it might actually be in reference to the moment where old Number 5 failed to assassinate the President which started a whole chain of events resulting in Vanya blowing up the Moon and subsequently destroying Earth.
