When Is The Suicide Squad Coming Out In The UK?

James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad is coming to cinemas, but fans are still a bit confused regarding its actual release date, especially here in the UK.

Why is that, you ask? Well, it’s because officially Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Comics haven’t announced an official UK release date yet.

Gunn’s The Suicide Squad will be hitting cinemas in the USA on August 6th, 2021, so it’s safe to assume that the film will hit UK cinemas around the same time.

It will be in French cinemas before the US, however, with French audiences getting to see the film first on the 4th of August, 2021.

Meanwhile, it’ll be hitting cinemas in the Netherlands and Portugal on the 5th of August, and it looks like Lithuanian and Turkish audiences will get to see the film the same day as American audiences on the 6th.

Gunn recently posted an image via Instagram in which he announced most of the film’s cast, which is impressive to say the least.

The Guardians of the Galaxy director announced that his follow-up to David Ayer’s 2016 film, Suicide Squad, will feature the likes of Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney and Joel Kinnaman all returning for this supposed sequel.

However, they’re not the only big names in this film. Among the names mentioned in Gunn’s post were Idris Elba, John Cena, Taika Waititi, Viola Davis, Nathan Fillion, Michael Rooker, and Queen of the South’s Alice Braga.

One notable absence was Will Smith who played Deadshot in the first film and kind of was the film’s main character. Jared Leto, who infamously played the Joker in the first Suicide Squad film, was also absent from this cast list.

Gunn accompanied the image with a rather simple caption which read: “Don’t get too attached.” It’s not exactly clear what this might mean, but I reckon it means that most of the characters these actors are playing might not stick around for too long.

I reckon a lot of the bigger names will die pretty early on in the movie, which could mean that Gunn wants to keep the audience on their toes. Ultimately, no one is safe in this Suicide Squad movie.

ScreenRant recently reported that David Dastmalchian has been cast in The Suicide Squad as Polka-Dot Man, and Storm Reid is reportedly playing Elba’s daughter in the new instalment. They also reported that Benicio del Toro is in talks for a villain’s role.

However, Gunn – who’s very active on social media – has been replying to people questions on Twitter, and he suggested that fans shouldn’t pay much attention to what certain outlets are reporting regarding who’s playing whom in his Suicide Squad movie.

Gunn wrote on Twitter: “Some characters will get out. Some already have (although some reported on, including from reputable sources, have been very wrong). But, in all honesty, I don’t know if we’ll officially release character info for a long long while to come.”

Meanwhile, Deadline has reported that production on The Suicide Squad is set to begin at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta on September 23rd later this month.

It’s also been revealed is that Gunn’s version of The Suicide Squad isn’t really going to be a sequel to Ayer’s previous movie, but more of a reboot.
