Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch’s First Trailer Looks Wonderfully Mad

We’ve been waiting for this trailer for what seems like ages, and finally, the first trailer for The French Dispatch has arrived.

This is Wes Anderson’s next movie and I would argue that it’s got one of the best casts I’ve ever seen assembled for a movie.

The French Dispatch, or to use its full title, The French Dispatch of the Liberty, Kansas Evening Sun, looks like it’s going to be incredible.

The trailer makes it look mad, but it looks like it’ll be madly brilliant.

From the minute the trailer starts, you can tell that this is a Wes Anderson movie.

He has a visual style unlike any director working in Hollywood today.

Every set built for his movies looks like dolls houses. He has an eye for detail which is second to none.

His films always look beautiful and the stories he tells are strange, odd and wonderfully unique.

He’s made some of my favourite movies ever such as The Grand Budapest Hotel, Moonrise Kingdom and The Royal Tenenbaums.

Every new Anderson movie is an event in itself and judging by The French Dispatch’s trailer, his next one will be one of his biggest and most ambitious films yet.

If you ask me what’s going on, I think I’d be very hard-pressed to answer that question.

The trailer doesn’t really make much sense, but that’s why I love Anderson so much.

His films are very hard to put into trailers because they’re so varied and so much happens in them.

There’s never a dull moment in an Anderson movie.

Here’s the film’s official synopsis:

A love letter to journalists set in an outpost of an American newspaper in a fictional 20th-century French city that brings to life a collection of stories published in “The French Dispatch” magazine.

That’s oversimplifying the film’s plot if you ask me. There’s something going on with Benicio Del Toro’s artist character who seems to be in prison.

There’s also something going on with Timothée Chalamet’s character who’s a student of some sort.

That’s just the tip of the Anderson iceberg.

Here’s the film’s incredible cast, which should get you very excited to see this film: Tilda Swinton, Frances McDormand, Bill Murray, Jeffrey Wright, Adrien Brody, Benicio del Toro, Owen Wilson, Léa Seydoux, Timothée Chalamet, Lyna Khoudri, Steve Park, and Mathieu Amalric.

The film also features a supporting cast including several of Anderson’s recurring collaborators such as Liev Schreiber, Edward Norton, Willem Dafoe, Schwartzman, Bob Balaban, and Anjelica Huston.
