Taron Egerton Reacts To Those Wolverine Casting Rumors

There’s been a lot of talk of late about who could replace Hugh Jackman as Wolverine the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and there’s one particular name that keeps on cropping up: Taron Egerton.

Egerton’s name is often one of the ones mentioned as possible Wolverine actors in the MCU, and I’m not going to lie, I think it would be incredible casting.

However, the actor’s not so sure about it and revealed recently that he just doesn’t know where these rumours have been coming from.

Taron Egerton was asked during an interview with Yahoo! Movies about him being possibly being the next Wolverine.

Here’s what he had to say on the matter:

“It’s unfounded. The only morsel of truth to it is that I’m a huge fan of the films, like 99.9 per cent of the rest of the world. That’s kind of it, really. … I don’t quite know where it comes from. I’m flattered but baffled by it… There’s other characters that I think I’d be more suited to.”

However, Egerton did go on to reveal that it would be one of the Marvel characters he would really love to play, saying: “If there’s one you want to play, it’s probably that one. I just love the wildness of Logan but I don’t know.”

Egerton’s also good friends with Jackman after having filmed Eddie The Eagle together, and the British actor joked about it at the end of the interview, admitting: “I am buddies with Wolverine, yeah”.

This means that he could ask his buddy for some tips on how to play Wolverine, or even for a referral and meeting with Marvel’s President, Kevin Feige.
