Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker To Feature Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker

This might be the news that many Star Wars fans have been waiting to hear for quite some time. There are now reports that Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker will be in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which sounds pretty cool if you ask me.

This news comes courtesy of We Got This Covered (which should always be taken with some degree of caution), however, this particular rumour seems pretty solid to me.

According to We Got This Covered’s very knowledgable sources (the site reported that the source who gave them this information is the same one who told them that Ewan McGregor was returning as Obi-Wan back in May which has since proven to be correct), Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker will be returning to the Star Wars saga in J.J. Abram’s upcoming movie, The Rise of Skywalker.

However, they do state that they weren’t told exactly how he’ll return. If Anakin does return in any capacity it could be as a Force ghost, probably alongside Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi as maybe even Natalie Portman as Padme, which would be a nice touch.

The other possibility is that he returned to merely voice the character, a bit like McGregor did in The Force Awakens. There could be some sort of vision scene in which Anakin reveals some vital information.

The likelihood is that Anakin will appear to Kylo Ren and not Rey, because of Kylo’s obsession with Darth Vader, and he could tell him of the pain and hardship he went through because of the Dark Side and reveal to him that he felt free when he finally came back to the Light.

It would be a really powerful moment if it does end up happening, which is why I hope Abrams does go through with it.

Despite all the stick Christensen has received over the years for his turn as Anakin in the Star Wars prequels, he’s always been a good sport and seems to take it all on the chin.

He deserves a break, and a chance to return to the franchise in some form or another.
