WARNING: There are potential spoilers for Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker and Emperor Palpatine’s involvement in the movie in this article.

So, a few days ago, we posted an article about some leaked images from Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker in which Emperor Palpatine is shooting some lightning beams from his fingers in true Sith fashion.

Rey was standing in front of him in one of these images, and then in the other image, Palpatine was actually standing up, which means he will be walking around a bit in The Rise Of Skywalker.

The reason I say that is because we got a little glimpse of the back of Palpatine’s head in the final Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker trailer, and it looked like he was sitting in a hovering chair, a bit like a Sith mobility scooter.

Anyway, there was always the possibility that these images might have been faked, and I was leaning in that direction, until this morning when it was revealed that Disney had claimed copyright infringement against a YouTuber who made a video in which he showed the images.

Seems like those leaked Palpatine images from Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker are real

The YouTuber, World of Geekdom, was the one who published the video called “MAJOR STAR WARS THE RISE OF SKYWALKER LEAKED IMAGES!”, and he then posted in a YouTube Community post that he had been sent a copyright claim by Disney.

Here’s what he wrote: “Here is Disney COPYRIGHT CLAIMING my new video that showed the LEAKED images from Rise of Skywalker, which are OBVIOUSLY REAL because they are claiming copyright. I understand companies getting mad at leaks (trust me I know better than anyone) but this is ridiculous.”

I’ve included a screenshot of World of Geekdom’s post above. He then posted a subsequent video in which he explained what happened, and it goes as follows:

He begins: “These were images that popped up on Reddit that I posted and made a video discussing what the images pertained to and what happened in the spoilers for the film and where those scenes come from based on what we’ve heard.”

Disney has really shot itself in the foot this time

He continues: “This is a major deal, ladies and gentleman. Don’t worry about my channel because they did not give me a copyright strike and I am disputing it.

“But what we have here is what we call the Streisand effect. Those leaked images that I promoted on this channel that I showed from Reddit are 100% real. Now we know for a fact they are,” he finishes.

So it does seem as though Disney have shot themselves in the foot by claiming this copyright. If they had just left it alone, then people wouldn’t have paid that much attention to these leaked images.
