Lucasfilm Looking At Taika Waititi To Direct A Future Star Wars Film

Taika Waititi must be one of the most in-demand directors working in Hollywood today. Not only is he Oscar-nominated for Jojo Rabbit, but he’s now being touted for the next Star Wars movie.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lucasfilm wants to hir Taika Waititi to make a future Star Wars movie, and I for one think it would be a great choice.

He’s already directed an episode of The Mandalorian Season 1, and I would say it was the best episode of the show so far.

His episode was the finale and it was a finale to remember. Anyway, he’s currently working on Thor: Love And Thunder which is set to hit theatres in 2021, so he’s a pretty busy guy.

However, if Lucasfilm get their man, then I would assume he’d be making the Star Wars movie next, and I really hope it happens.

That said, he was supposed to be making an Akira movie, but I reckon he would further delay that movie in order to make a Star Wars picture.

Would Taika Waititi make a good Star Wars movie?

I honestly do not know how he finds the time to do everything he does. He must be working 24/7.

He’s going to be going to the Academy Awards next month with his film Jojo Rabbit which has been nominated for six Oscars, but before that he’ll be going to the BAFTAs where his movie’s also been nominated for six awards.

Jojo Rabbit’s been nominated for Best Picture, Best Supporting Actress, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Costume Design, Best Production Design and Best Editing.

Interestingly, it wasn’t nominated for Best Director, which is a shame, but I highly doubt we’ll be waiting too long before he ends up being nominated for that award as well.
