Spider-Man And Venom Might Meet One Another In A Crossover Movie

I’ve always wanted to watch a good movie which featured two of my favourite comic book characters – Spider-Man and Venom. What a crossover that would be!

Up until this point we haven’t seen that yet. I got very excited when I found out that Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 was going to feature Venom, but the film was pants, and the film’s interpretation of Venom was pants.

However, there’s now news that a Venom and Spider-Man crossover movie could very well happen.

We’ve not got a very good on-screen version of Spider-Man in Tom Holland, and – despite the film being a bit rubbish – I actually liked Tom Hardy’s take on Venom in Sony Pictures’ recent movie.

It seems as though Sony really wants to put them together in a big crossover movie, which would, of course, make them great big wads of cash.

This news comes from a recent interview with Venom director Ruben Fleischer whilst promoting his upcoming movie, Zombieland: Double Tap.

He may have turned down the opportunity to direct the sequel (Andy Serkis has been charged with the task of directing Venom 2), but he dropped a pretty big hint during an interview Fandom that a Spider-Man and Venom crossover very much a priority at Sony.

“That’s where it’s all going to lead,” he teased.

“And that’s the exciting thing, because we changed the origin of Venom… in the comics, he evolved from Spider-Man but because of the Marvel-Sony thing we weren’t able to that.

“And so the thing I think it’s building towards, and will be exciting to see, is when they actually do confront each other,” he finished.

He also revealed that he was “really bummed” by how badly Venom was received by critics, and it was one of the reasons why he ended up turning the sequel over to Serkis.

Will Serkis’ Venom 2 be better than the first film?

However, he’s looking forward to seeing what Serkis can do with the property, explaining: “I was kinda happy to let somebody else take over.”

“And I’m excited to see what he does with it.”

At the moment, it’s looking like Venom 2 will tie directly back to Fleischer’s film despite its poor reviews, and they’re even looking to bring back Woody Harrelson as Carnage, which will be fun.

Venom 2 is scheduled to hit cinemas in October 2020.
