Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow Movie Is Rumoured To Be A Female Superhero Team-Up Picture

The Black Widow movie’s scriptwriter is reportedly meeting with Scarlett Johansson and the film is rumoured to be an all female-led team-up movie.

Last week we learned that Kevin Feige has hired a scriptwriter for the much-rumoured and discussed Black Widow movie. The scriptwriter in question was the up-and-coming Jac Shaeffer, and now, according to Variety’s Justin Kroll, she’ll be meeting with the film’s supposed star, Scarlett Johansson, sometime next month. It’s all very exciting and I’m just very happy that it looks like Marvel is finally taking this movie seriously. They were already rather embarrassingly beaten to the female-led superhero movie punch by DC Comics’ Wonder Woman. Marvel does have their first female-led superhero movie in the works, Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel, which is scheduled to hit UK cinemas on Marvel 8th next year, but in all honesty, the Black Widow movie should have been the first.

However, there are now rumours suggesting that the Black Widow movie might not be her solo movie we were expecting but actually an all-female superhero movie. According to Comic Book Movie, Scarlett Johansson and a few of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s other female actresses pitched this idea whilst shooting Avengers: Infinity War and it sounds like the Marvel Studios President liked the idea. Johansson, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan and Tessa Thompson were said to be some of the women behind the pitch.

It does sound like an interesting idea and people are already pointing to a cinematic adaption of Marvel’s Lady Liberators comics which involves an all-female team including characters such as Valkyrie, Wasp, Black Widow and Scarlet Witch. This could be very easily done within the MCU since all of those characters have already been cast and most of them are established. This means that we could see a Marvel movie in which Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie, Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch, Evangeline Lilly’s Wasp, Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel, Karren Gillan’s Nebula, Pom Klementieff Mantis and Zoe Saldana’s Gamora all go off on their own mission to save the galaxy. Now that would be pretty darn cool.
