Ryan Reynolds Gives us our First Look at Josh Brolin as Cable in Deadpool 2

Ryan Reynolds has shared two images of Josh Brolin as Cable via his Twitter account and it’s made us very excited to see him in action in Deadpool 2!

Deadpool showed the world that an R-rated superhero movie can work. It ended up breaking all sorts of box office records and opened 20th Century Fox’s eyes to the possibility of making more of these more brutal superhero pictures, which in turn paved the way for Logan. If it wasn’t for Deadpool, we would have never seen Hugh Jackman’s tearjerking last hurrah as Wolverine in Logan, and credit has to go to Ryan Reynolds, director Tim Miller and whoever leaked the Comic Con concept footage which supposedly forced Fox’s hand in letting them make the movie (I still think Reynolds himself was behind the leak).

The Canadian actor is now working on the sequel, which is being directed by John Wick and John Wick 2’s director, David Leitch, and it will feature Josh Brolin as the time-traveling mutant, Cable. Reynolds has now offered us our first look at Brolin’s Cable (who also plays Thanos in the MCU, yet let’s choose to just forget about that for now) via Twitter. Check out the images below.

It has to be said that Brolin really does look perfect for the part. Before he was cast there were many names bandied about in relation to the Cable role. Dolph Lundgren, Pierce Brosnan, Stephen Lang, John Hamm and Ron Perlman were among the favourites for the role. It had been rumoured that Tim Miller wanted Kyle Chandler to the part, but Reynolds disagreed and that this might have been the cause for Miller leaving the project. However, they have all said since that this was not the case.

Whatever happened, we can all agree that Brolin looks perfect as Cable and I cannot wait to see what he can do with the role. It promises to be a very special moment in comic book movie history. Deadpool 2 also stars Zazie Beetz as Domino and will see the return of Brianna Hildebrand as the brilliantly named Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Morena Baccarin, and T.J. Miller (although his involvement hasn’t been confirmed as of yet).

Deadpool 2 will be coming to UK cinemas on June 1st, 2018.
