Ryan Reynolds Was Going To Cameo In Zombieland: Double Tap

Zombieland: Double Tap is in cinemas right now, and people seem to have been enjoying the movie, yet it hasn’t really broken the box office.

Then again, neither did the first film, and it has since gone on to get a sequel, as well as a pilot episode for a potential TV show with Amazon Prime, but that never came to fruition.

Anyway, one of the big draws about the Zombieland movies, apart from featuring incredible zombie kills (love the Zombie kill of the week section in these movies), is the fact that they feature cameos from the legend that is Bill Murray.

However, we recently learnt that Bill Murray wasn’t going to cameo in Zombieland 2 (also known as Zombieland: Double Tap), and that the film’s writers, Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, reached out to their Deadpool buddy, Ryan Reynolds, to feature briefly in the movie.

Unfortunately, it didn’t work out because Reynolds was rather busy with other projects (such as Detective Pikachu and cameoing in the Hobbs & Shaw movie), and he and his wife, Blake Lively, also welcomed a new child into the world, so a Zombieland 2 cameo just wasn’t going to work out.

The idea was to have Reynolds play the adversary of Woody Harrelson’s Tallahassee, which would have been really fun to see.

However, they managed to get Bill Murray to cameo once again, yet Wernick and Reese did seem a bit bumed about not having Reynolds in the movie.

They told Deadline that they let “the opportunity slip through their fingers” since they have worked extensively with Reynolds in the past.
