Could Ron Howard’s ‘Spicey’ tweet be teasing the infamous Kessel Run, which means that we’ll get to see the Smuggler complete it in under 13 parsecs in the Han Solo Spinoff movie?
Han Solo is undoubtedly most people’s favourite Star Wars character. There was something widely captivating about his swagger, mystery, and ultimately his heroism. It also helped that Harrison Ford was, and still is, very easy on the eyes. It’s no wonder that Lucasfilm were so eager to greenlight a Han Solo spinoff movie which will detail how Han ended up in that cantina on Mos Eisley at the beginning of Star Wars: A New Hope.
Ron Howard is now the man in charge of the picture after having replaced Phil Lord and Chris Miller, and Alden Ehrenreich is the lucky individual who bring a younger version of the roguish smuggler to life on the big screen. No pressure. However, further details on the movie have been kept very secret. We know that Chewbacca will feature in it somehow and that the film also stars Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Woody Harrelson as Beckett, a criminal and Han’s mentor, Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clark as Kira (could she be related to Rey somehow?) and Thandie Newton in an undisclosed role.
Ever since he’s stepped in as director, Ron Howard has been teasing – no, trolling – fans on social media by posting supposedly random photos and claiming they are behind-the-scenes glimpses into his Han Solo movie. However, his most recent picture might actually be a proper tease. At first glance it looks like all the rest, but once you take into consideration the image’s caption, then things do start to become a bit clearer. Check out his tweet below.

Could the word “spicey” be a direct reference to the infamous Kessel Run which Han supposedly completed in less than 12 parsecs, despite a parsec not being a measurement of time, but of distance. Over time, that line has become somewhat of a running gag and something which Han Solo is very famous for across the Star Wars galaxy. The Kessel Run was something smugglers had to do whilst transporting spice from the spice mines (not necessarily legally), and the way Howard spelled the word seems to indicate that spice will be present in this movie, thus the assumption that what we are looking at here has something to do with the Kessel Run.
The Han Solo spinoff movie will be coming to UK cinemas on May 25th, 2018.
