Ragnarok Season 1’s Ending Explained – Will Thor Be In Season 2?

The new Norwegian Netflix original, Ragnarok, has got people talking, especially Season 1’s ending.

So here’s what we think will happen in Season 2.

Before I continue, I must warn people that there are SPOILERS for Ragnarok Season 1 in this article.

If you haven’t watched the show yet, then I implore you to go on over to Netflix and watch it, and then come back and read this article.

So, Ragnarok is a Norwegian series in which a young boy called Magne (played by David Stakston) who moves to a new town with his mum and brother.

The town is called Edda and there’s something rather fishy going on.

First off, upon arriving in Edda, Magna helps an old man in a wheelchair across the street.

An elderly shop assistant then comes out and touches Magna’s forehead.

From that point on, Magna can do things he couldn’t before.

This is a great take on Thor from Norse mythology

He’s super strong and fast. He’s basically indestructible and his eyesight and sense of smell have dramatically improved.

To cut a long story short, Magna’s now a Norse God, and at one point in the series, it’s revealed he’s Thor.

Honestly, Ragnarok Season 1 is one of the best shows I’ve seen all year.

I love the fact that it’s quite low key and so well acted.

Magna is a fascinating screen presence and he’s backed up by an excellent cast.

The show’s also not afraid to deliver some real gut punches.

For instance, the show’s first episode sees Magna’s one and only friend, Isolde, die tragically in a paragliding ‘accident’.

The rest of the first season consists of Magna trying to uncover what happened to her.

Whilst this is going on, the town’s wealthiest family, who happen to own the factory next to the idyllic lake, are trying to figure Magne out.

Why, you ask? Because they happen to be giants and suspect Magne might not be the normal dyslexic boy everybody says he is.

The show ends with a pretty cool fight between this family’s father, Vidar (Gísli Örn Garðarsson) and Magne.

It seems as though Magne’s going to suffer the same fate as his friend, Isolde, but he then brings down lighting upon himself and Vidar.

Ragnarok Season 1 ends with Magne and Vidar both on the ground, both seemingly dead.

However, the show ends with a shot of Magne’s hand, which starts twitching and balls up into a fist.

So, how will Ragnarok Season 2 begin and what does this ending mean?

Well, it’s pretty obvious that Magne’s still alive. What’s not so obvious is whether Vidar is.

One thing that could happen is that Magne did kill Vidar and then his family start trying to kill him.

Ragnarok is supposedly just the beginning, as the narrator says at the end of Season 1.

This means there’s a lot more to come, and given the show’s popularity, Netflix might give the second season a bigger budget.

This would allow them to do bigger fights and bring in more interesting monsters from Norse mythology.

There are so many to choose from and I think it would be a good way to go for the show.

I also think we’ll see more from Magne as he starts to get to grips with his newfound powers.

I also think we’ll start seeing him remember his past and truly become Thor.

Ragnarok Season 1’s ending seems to hint at this.

The fact that he clenches his fist indicates that Magne’s ready to fight.

It’s more than that, however. It seems to be suggesting he wants to fight.

He wants to rid Edda and the world of these monsters who are polluting the town’s water.

It’s obvious they’ve been up to no good for years and it’s time for someone to fight back.

He’ll also want to avenge the death of his friend, Isolde.
