Quentin Tarantino’s Star Trek Movie Script Will Be Written By The Revenant’s Mark L. Smith

The Revenant scribe Mark L. Smith has been hired to write the script for the next Star Trek movie which is being based on Quentin Tarantino’s pitch.

Here’s what we know about this so far. Quentin Tarantino pitched his idea for a new Star Trek film to J.J. Abrams. Abrams loved it and so did Paramount Pictures who put together a writers room to listen to Tarantino’s idea. Tarantino wants the movie to be R-rated, Paramount agreed, and now they’ve hired the writer of The Revenant to pen the script.

According to Deadline, The Revenant’s Mark L. Smith will be writing the script for the new Star Trek movie. It all seems to be moving very quickly indeed which must mean that Tarantino’s pitch was so good that they couldn’t say no or wait. Honestly, this doesn’t sound like real life. They’re making an R-rated Star Trek movie which will be based on Tarantino’s idea. But if that wasn’t enough, the whole thing is going to be written by the guy to gave us The Revenant’s script which is famous for having almost no dialogue in it at all. It all sounds too good to be true.

Apparently, Smith became the favourite to write the movie after he wrote the script for Paramount’s upcoming WWII thriller, Overlord, which sounds very interesting indeed. Smith will write the script whilst Tarantino busies himself with his next project which will be centred on the Manson summer of 1969. The word on the street at the moment is that Tarantino will direct the Star Trek picture. What an amazing story this is turning out to be. As for Abrams, he’s only just pitched his Star Wars: Episode IX idea to Lucasfilm and Disney and will be working hard on getting the script together.
