Pokémon: The First Movie Remake Is Coming To Netflix Very Soon

Pokémon: The First Movie’s remake is coming to Netflix very, very soon, and you know what, I can’t wait to see it.

The movie will be renamed Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back—Evolution, which is a very ‘Pokémon’ type name for this movie.

But don’t be fooled. This isn’t a new Pokémon story. It’s the exact same tale told in Pokémon: The First Movie, only with updated CGI.

I’m going to be honest, it’s starting to look like Netflix is becoming Japan’s version of Disney Plus, what with the recent news that all of Studio Ghibli’s movies are coming to the platform.

I really don’t mind that because I love Japanese animation, that said, I’m not sure you can call Pokémon a Japanese anime.

It’s pretty westernised, and that’s fine too because I love Pokémon and would never say no to watching more of it on Netflix.

We’ve just seen the hyper-realistic version of Pokémon in the recent movie, Detective Pikachu, and seeing this CGI animated version of the first-ever Pokémon movie might be slightly jarring for fans.

Anyway, let’s get onto what will happen in Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back—Evolution.

As mentioned above, the story of this updated Pokémon movie will be very much like the original film.

It’s the story of human-made pokémon Mewtwo.

The movie will feature the original Pokémon characters of Ash, Pikachu, and Team Rocket, and there’ll be a lot of clones, and when I say ‘a lot’ I mean it.

The movie’s first trailer shows how most of the movie will unfold. It details Mewtwo’s creation and the trainer competition the Pokémon creates which draws Ash and his trusted friends into battle with the all-powerful Pokémon.

Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back—Evolution arrives, Pokémon Day, February 27th, 2020, only on Netflix.
