Patty Jenkins Will Direct the Wonder Woman Sequel

Patty Jenkins has closed on a deal to direct the sequel to her box office hit, Wonder Woman, which will make her the highest paid female director ever!

Wonder Woman came as a bit of a surprise to quite a few comic book movie lovers. There was a time when we thought we would never see a genuinely good film come out of the DCEU, but thankfully Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman came along to stem the tide of underwhelming DC Comics blockbusters. Both Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad left audiences feeling a little bit cold, and even Man of Steel received slightly negative reviews. It seems as though the higher-ups at Warner Bros. were pretty impressed with Jenkins’ work on their first female led superhero film and couldn’t get her to sign onto the sequel fast enough.

According to Variety, Warner Bros. and Patty Jenkins have come to an agreement that will see her helm the Wonder Woman sequel which is currently slated for release on December 13th, 2019. Jenkins was already working on the sequel’s script with DC Films President, Geoff Johns, however she’s now on-board to direct and produce the film. This contract is said to be around the $8 million mark, making Jenkins the highest paid female director of all time.

Wonder Woman has been a resounding success, grossing over $813 million at the worldwide box office and is all set to become the summer’s highest earning movie. As it stands, it’s the biggest film of the year, however we still have Star Wars: The Last Jedi to come which could very well end up taking that crown from Princess Diana of Themyscira, yet that shouldn’t take any credit away from what Jenkins has achieved with her film.

Wonder Woman is rumoured to be coming to Blu-ray and DVD on September 19th.
