Paper Girls Is Going To Be Adapted Into A TV Series By Amazon

It looks like Amazon is going to adapt the incredible comic book series, Paper Girls, into a fully-fledged TV series, and that’s a very good thing indeed.

Image Comics’ Paper Girls is easily one of my personal favourite comic book series ever.

The books are the work of Brian K. Vaughan and artist Cliff Chiang, and it tells the story of a group of girls living in the 80s who end up being caught in a battle between two warring factions of time-travellers.

There are aliens, there’s time-travel, the girls are all brilliant characters in their own right, and it has a wonderful eighties vibe to it.

In that respect, it’s a lot like Stranger Things and if you’re a fan of the Netflix series, as I am, then I would highly recommend you go and get your hands on the issues of Paper Girls.

It’s now been revealed via Deadline that Amazon Studios has just ordered a series based on the comics.

This series will be produced by Legendary Television and Plan B, and the adaptation will be penned by Toy Story 4 writer Stephany Folsom, who will also act as an executive producer on the show, alongside the comic book’s creator, Vaughn.

There’s no news yet on who’ll be cast in the series, but I promise I’ll let you know as soon as I hear anything about it.

Amazon Studio’s adaptation of Paper Girls has already become one of my most anticipated series, and you’ll have to read the comics to understand why that is.

Hopefully, they’ll stay true to the original source material, and with Vaughn on-board, I’m sure they will.

Here’s the series’ full synopsis: “The series follows four young girls who, while out delivering papers on the morning after Halloween in 1988, become unwittingly caught in a conflict between warring factions of time-travelers, sending them on an adventure through time that will save the world.

“As they travel between our present, the past, and the future — they encounter future versions of themselves and now must choose to embrace or reject their fate. An emotional adventure in which the girls and the women they eventually become are tough, their friendships are authentic, and their journey through time is epic.”
