Ms. Marvel Is Coming To The Marvel Cinematic Universe Says Kevin Feige

Kevin Feige has said that they’re planning to bring Ms. Marvel, a.k.a. Kamala Khan, to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the future.

Where can the Marvel Cinematic Universe go after Avengers: Infinity War? One thing they could do is start representing more characters from other parts of the world, not just America. We have been recently introduced to Wakanda, but even more diversity wouldn’t hurt. This is where Ms. Marvel, who also goes by the name of Kamala Khan, could come in.

Marvel Studios’ President, Kevin Feige, was asked during an interview with BBC whether there were any plans to bring Ms. Marvel to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ms. Marvel, which is another character in the comic books – the Muslim hero who was inspired by Captain Marvel – is definitely, sort of in the works. We have plans for that once we’ve introduced Captain Marvel to the world,” said Feige.

Even though this is nice to hear – a bit more diversity certainly wouldn’t hurt the MCU – Feige’s rather loose phrasing is slightly worrying. “Definitely, sort of in the works” doesn’t fill you with hope of ever seeing Ms. Marvel on the big screen. If anything, it makes me think that they’ve thought about it and then thought against it. I would love to see her become part of Marvel’s big cinematic blockbusters.

Not only is she a fascinating character, but she would serve as a fantastic role model for so many young girls and Muslims out there who would like to see themselves represented more in these movies. At the moment there is a bit of a hole in the MCU when it comes to strong female characters, and now it’s in need of them more than ever, especially after the events of Avengers: Infinity War (I won’t go into spoilers here). It’s up to Marvel to ensure that their movies represent as many cultures as they can.
