Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige Won’t Be Replacing Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy

There’s been a lot of talk recently that Lucasfilm’s President, Kathleen Kennedy will be forced to step down from her role very soon and that she’ll be replaced by Marvel Studios’ President, Kevin Feige.

Frankly, I don’t really understand where these rumours have come from and why people are so anxious to see Kennedy get the sack. She’s overseen some of the most profitable Star Wars movies ever made, and a few of them have been really quite good.

I would say that Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Rogue One have all be pretty good movies in their own right, and Disney and Lucasfilm should be proud of them.

Just because a few Star Wars fans get very vocal on Twitter because they claim that their childhoods’ have been ruined by some of these movies (The Last Jedi in particular) doesn’t mean Kennedy should get the boot.

I’m going to put good money all this being forgotten when Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker comes out and settles some parts of the Star Wars ‘fandom’ down.

Anyway, according to Variety’s sources within Disney and Lucasfilm Kennedy’s job remains secure despite the fact that there’s been talk that filmmakers are getting worried about the number of directors getting fired from Star Wars movies.

Variety went on to mention that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has agreed to make a standalone Star Wars project, but it’s not a sign that he’s going to take over from Kennedy any tome soon.

There isn’t a sense that he needs to come in a ‘save’ Star Wars, because it really doesn’t need saving.

They finished off by claiming that there are no plans to give him a larger role within the studio to sure up the property.

The fact that people think Star Wars needs saving is simply put, ludicrous. I don’t know where they get these things from.

    “what do you think?”

I think that you are clearly dilusional if you think it’s just a “few” disgruntled Star Wars fans, and even more dilusional if you think Kathleen Kennedy has produced a string of successful Star Wars films.

While the box office numbers might look decent on the outside, they were significantly short of the original targets and there wasn’t much profit made when you consider the huge-scale marketing costs for each film. Plus, the merchandise sale have been terrible.

Kathleen Kennedy, Ruin Johnson, and people like you just don’t seem to get that a large portion of the Star Wars base is (was) nerdy males (myself included). Kathleen Kennedy, Ruin Johnson, and people like you continiously shit all over us in favour of social justice and god-awful basic story-telling.

You’ll find out just how large the disgusted Star Wars fan base is when The Rise of Skywalker tanks.

Have your say...
