Lucasfilm Is Trying To Get J.J. Abrams To Return For Future Star Wars Films

So, it seems as though Disney and Lucasfilm can’t do Star Wars films without the help of J.J. Abrams.

They needed him to bring the franchise back onto the big screen with his movie, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and then they needed him to return to finish off the trilogy with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Originally, The Rise of Skywalker was supposed to be directed by Colin Trevorrow, yet he was sacked, like many other directors attached to Star Wars projects.

Well, according to We Got This Covered’s sources, Lucasfilm and Disney are trying to get J.J. Abrams to agree to return for future Star Wars movies.

However, the outlet goes on to claim that they aren’t sure whether they want him to return as a director or producer.

Yet, what is certain is that J.J. Abrams is going to be very busy in the future. His production company, Bad Robot, has already signed a lucrative deal with Warner Bros. Pictures to produce movies for them.

Sounds like Disney and Lucasfilm can’t do Star Wars without J.J. Abrams

It’s believed that they’re going to put J.J. Abrams and his Bad Robot production company in charge of the DCEU moving forward.

So, whether or not they’ll be able to convince him to be in charge of both the DCEU and Star Wars remains to be seen.

Honestly, if this is true, it seems as though Lucasfilm is really clutching at straws. They don’t need J.J. Abrams in order to succeed.

I’ve said it so many times before, and I’ll keep on saying it, they’ve got the perfect man for the job in Rian Johnson, but it seems as though fan pressure will prevent Lucasfilm from moving forward with his Star Wars trilogy.
